Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun use stories, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed. These stories are the “other side of the coin” so to speak and serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to take responsibility for your own personal safety.

This story is a terribly sad reminder about why it is important to be ready to defend yourself and your family at a moment’s notice, even inside your own home.

A three year old girl in Louisiana is dead at the hands of a suspected home invader whose motive was robbery.

According to USA Today:

“She got shot in my arms,” said Alonzo Hill, the girl’s father.

He recounted preparing to leave his brown brick house when an unknown man came through the unlocked side kitchen door, intending to rob the family, and fired.

“He disappeared,” Hill said. A bullet hole, tagged by police, was visible in the ceiling of the adjacent living room Friday afternoon.

As always, I have to point out that a firearm may or may not have helped prevent or stop this crime. However, I prefer to have options whenever possible over simply begging for my life.
