Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun uses, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed. These stories also serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to carry everyday.

In Duluth, GA a man is dead and two other people, his girlfriend/wife (relationship still not 100% clear) and an eight year old child, have been shot in a home invasion.

According to the Gwinnett Daily Post,

“We understand the motivation to be robbery,” [Maj. Don Woodruff] said. “I don’t have any information on anything else at this time.”

#The man of the house was shot and killed. His girlfriend, who also lived at the house, was also shot and transported with non-life threatening injuries. An 8-year-old girl was shot in the arm and transported to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish.

#A 4-year-old girl was unharmed in the incident and is in protective custody.

As most violent crimes occur inside of the home, this story is a reminder of why it’s important to be armed, even when inside of your own home. Things can go from good to bad in a split second.

Obviously, we don’t have all of the facts in this case yet, but I have to think that if one (or both) of the adult victims had been carrying we’d be talking about a very different outcome and might even be filing this one in our defensive gun use database.
