Stock - gun in handA woman in a Gainesville, FL home may have saved her own life as well as the lives of two other people in her home as well.

Two armed men burst into a Gainesville, FL home. They shot a man who was sleeping on the couch in the face.

A female resident of the home, who was in a back room taking care of a third resident, who is blind, heard the intrusion and retrieved a gun from a closet.

She went towards the front of the home and confronted the two armed suspects. One of them pointed a gun at her.

That’s when the woman fired. She hit one of the suspects in the groin.

Both suspects attempted to flee once the woman opened fire on them. One suspect got away, but the suspect who was shot collapsed on the front lawn and was apprehended.

According to Gainesville.com, the man who was shot is identified as Matthew Banks,

Banks was arrested on charges of attempted murder, home invasion robbery with a firearm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. He was being held at the Alachua County jail Sunday on $5 million bond.

No word on the condition of the resident who was shot or the suspect who was shot.
