A 56 year old Washington man was home alone in the middle of the day when he heard someone ringing his doorbell.

The homeowner looked outside, but since he didn’t recognize the man, he ignored the bell.

Moments later, the homeowner’s glass door was shattered as the stranger threw an object through the door.

A struggle ensued between the suspect and the homeowner.

At some point the homeowner was able to get a gun and fire two shots at the suspect, striking him once.

A nearby delivery driver called 911.

When authorities arrived the suspect was taken to an area hospital for treatment. He is expected to be charged after he is treated.
