A Vietnam veteran, now in his 70’s heard someone trying to break into his home.

The homeowner armed himself and shot the suspected intruder on his porch.

The suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to WANE, neighbors say the homeowner is a good neighbor, and aren’t surprised by his actions,

Willis Bolin’s lived across the yard from where the shooting happened for six years.

“I knew he had a gun over there. I knew he wasn’t going to let anyone rob him,” Bolin said. “He’s a real good neighbor and the nicest guy you would ever want to know. If he had to shoot him, he had to make that call fast. He’s not a violent person.”

Police announced that the suspect killed was Ricardo M. Hood, 33, of Fort Wayne, Ind.

The death was ruled a homicide, but that doesn’t mean the homeowner will be charged. Based on early facts it appears this is a justifiable homicide.
