Police are still trying to piece together all of the details of this incident. Based on currently available information it sounds as if the maintenance manager at a Utah apartment complex tried to intervene in a fight between a man and a woman. The man became irrate and shot the maintenance man several times.

Upon hearing the gunshots another resident retrieved his own handgun and shot the gunman in defense of himself and the maintenance man.

The gunman then retreated back to his apartment. A SWAT team used a robot to locate the man inside the apartment. Apparently the gunman collapsed and died shortly after making it back to his apartment.

It currently appears the resident who shot the gunman acted in self defense, but police are still trying to piece together the complete series of events.
