Here it is. Our 1,000th defensive gun use since we started the site in August of 2011. We’ll have a post tomorrow summarizing our journey to 1,000 along with some statistics.

An apartment resident in Florida was forced to defend themselves from three armed home invaders this week.

The suspects are described as being 2 males and 1 female. One of the suspects was armed with a shotgun, and at least one other, a handgun.

The resident of the apartment managed to retrieve a handgun from a bedroom and opened fire on the suspects, striking one.

The suspects then fled the residence, but were caught by police before they could leave the parking lot of the apartment complex.

One of the suspects was transported to an area hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the torso.

Police say it is possible that the resident knew one of the suspects.

According to the Orlando Sentinel, the quick response time by police most likely saved the shot suspect’s life.
