A home invader in West Virginia is dead at the hands of a homeowner.

The suspect, identified as Robert Andrew Carter, was shot and killed after he broke into a home Kanawha County.

According to WSAZ,

“I think he (the homeowner) done the right thing. If you can’t protect what you got, what’s the use of working and having — if somebody’s gonna come in and take it,” Fred Morris, neighbor and long-time friend of the homeowner said.

Morris is well aware that the home has been broken into a handful of times just this week.

“There were some items in that house that were found nearby on a path – that had already been removed from the house,” Cpl Brian Humphreys with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office said.

The deceased suspect is also suspected to have committed other crimes in the area.

This is only the 13th defensive gun use we’ve documented in state of West Virginia and the 1,338th defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.
