A 59 year old California woman refused to be a victim yesterday.
When a Cheviot Hills resident named Carla was woken up by her barking dog she looked out the window to investigate. She saw one man in her yard and another standing by a nearby car.
Carla, already in her “refuse to be a victim” mindset, grabbed her shotgun, opened her door and fired a round into the ground (we’re not really a fan of warning shots here, but fortunately in this case it seemed to work).
According to My Fox LA,
Carla says, it was just to scare them off. It worked. The two suspects ran back to a white sedan and drove off.
Carla says she heard one of them screaming, “Crazy b**ch has a gun!!”
She says, “You have to at some point in time, take responsibility for your own safety and that’s all I was doing.”
Police believe the same men who tried to break into Carla’s home were also responsible for a nearby burglary that happened immediately prior to this incident.
