An 18 year old young man had to use deadly force to defend his mother, as well as himself, from his mother’s violent ex-boyfriend, identified as 36-year-old Brian Davidson.

According to WKRN,

An investigation revealed Davidson had entered the home unlawfully with the intent of harming 46-year-old Shawna Brush.

Brush’s son, 18-year-old Connor Brush, ultimately exchanged gunfire with Davidson, allowing him and his mother to escape unharmed.

Davidson, who was struck by one of Brush’s bullets, then shot himself.

It’s currently unclear which gunshot wound proved fatal, but it is clear that the presence of a legal firearm may have saved two lives in this case. The suspect and the victim have had a long romantic history as well as a long history of domestic violence dating back to 2006.

The deceased suspect and the victim have two children together ages eight and ten.

This is the 42nd defensive gun use we’ve documented in the state of Tennessee and the 1,216th defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.
