The owner of a sandwich shop in Louisiana heard a commotion in the back of his restaurant.

When he went to investigate he saw one of his employees being held at gunpoint by a man with a shotgun.

The employee managed to get a hand on the shotgun and started trying to wrestle it away.

Meanwhile the store owner retrieved a handgun, returned to the back of the store and, fearing for the safety of himself and employees, opened fire on the suspect, striking him multiple times.

The suspect fled the store, but was found collapsed in the street nearby.

Police say an employee was also shot superficially in the arm. It is likely he was caught in the store owner’s crossfire as he tried to stop the robbery suspect. The employee was treated and released for minor injuries.
