stock LCRA store clerk in Mobile, AL decided he wasn’t going to be a victim again after being robbed at gunpoint a couple of years ago.

When a masked, armed man burst into the store last week, the clerk was ready.

Before the suspect could draw his gun, the clerk drew his first.

The clerk’s gun appears to be a Ruger LCR based on local news reports.

Not wanting to get shot, the would be robber fled the store empty handed.

The clerk said in an interview that he didn’t know what to do after he drew his gun, adding that he didn’t want to shoot anyone.

We would encourage the store owner to get to the range and take some self defense training in order to become more comfortable with his firearm. In any case, the mere presence of a firearm in the hands of a law abiding citizen was enough to stop this crime this time.

This is another example of an armed citizen stopping a crime where no shots were fired and no one was hurt. Because of that, this incident will likely not be included in most defensive gun use statistics, which often only include incidents in which the suspect was shot or killed.
