A homeowner in Kansas City, MO was made aware of the fact that someone was stealing property from nearby neighbors and hiding it near the homeowner’s house.
When the homeowner noticed someone returning to collect the stolen goods shortly thereafter, he confronted the man and told him to get off of his property.
That’s when the suspect punched the homeowner in the face.
Fearing for his safety and on his own property, the homeowner shot the suspect once, hitting him in the leg.
When police arrived they found the suspect collapsed in the driveway, next to the armed homeowner.
The suspect claims he was just cutting through the yard, but reports from neighbor corroborate the homeowner’s claim of self defense.
The event occurred just before 10pm near the 6000 block of Brooklyn Avenue in Kansas City.
The suspect is being treated for non life threatening injuries at an area hospital.
