Stock - Gun with bulletsA Florida homeowner was required to use deadly force to defend himself inside of his own home when he returned home for lunch.

When the homeowner returned home, he found a 16 year old intruder in his home. The suspect was laying out firearms on a sheet in preparation of stealing them.

According to WPEC-TV,

“Went inside and noticed there’s a young male juvenile he didn’t recognize,” said Capt. Dave Bernhardt with West Palm Beach Police. “He was taking some firearms and laying them on a sheet to get ready to steal them.”

Police say the teenage intruder pointed a weapon at the homeowner, they fought, and the homeowner shot the suspect two or three times.

“He was in fear for his life with firearms, someone he doesn’t know there in his house stealing guns,” said Capt.Bernhardt.

It’s not clear if the homeowner managed to gain control of a firearm that was in the home or if he was carrying a firearm on his person.

While the teenage suspect has not been identified, it has been confirmed that he had a prior criminal history and was currently on probation for previous crimes.

This is the 100th defensive gun use we’ve documented in the state of Florida and the 1,073rd defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.
