A man was fatally stabbed in Oceanside, CA outside of a motel.

The incident was originally thought to have been a fight, but now it appears it may have been an assault turned murder.

Several bystanders rushed to the aid of the victim, and one bystander, a legal concealed carrier, drew his firearm and held the suspect at gunpoint until police arrived.

The suspect was arrested by police and is being held on suspicion of murder.

Concealed carry permits are generally hard to get in California, but many counties, especially in more rural areas will actually issue them, contrary to popular belief.

This is another defensive gun use in which no shots were fired and the bad guy ended up behind bars.
