One of the most terrifying thoughts for most people is knowing that your young children are in a home with a potentially violent intruder.
That’s exactly what happened to one family in Arkansas last week.
A man identified as William Anthony Wilson, age 27, forced his way through the backdoor of a home in Ashdown, AR around 11pm on September 13.
The family which included an adult male, female and two preschool aged children was asleep in the home during the break in.
The suspect entered several rooms in the home before encountering the male homeowner, who had armed himself with a handgun.
The homeowner opened fire, striking the suspect at least once. When the shooting started, the suspect fled the home.
The suspect made it about 100 yards outside the home before collapsing. He was transported by responding emergency personnel to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say no charges will be filed against the homeowner, who acted in self defense.
