According to WLWT.com, Earl Jones, 92, of Verona, KY has been the victim of 3 recent break-ins at his home. However, around 2am on September 3, Jones was ready when he heard someone breaking into his basement.

Jones grabbed his .22 caliber rifle and waited in front of the basement door. When the door opened, Jones fired a single shot. Jones then got in touch with authorities, however when they arrived on the scene, no one except Jones was in the home. Apparently 2 of the burglars carried their partner back to the car and fled the scene.

A short time later a 911 call was placed by the would be home invaders and police found the 3 men, 1 now deceased, in a car about a mile from the burglary. The 2 living suspects were questioned and admitted to the burglary.

Earl Jones was an Air Force mechanic who worked on numerous planes throughout his career, including the famous Enola Gay.
