stock_P1020356Once again we have another story illustrating how guns are the great equalizer for those who are unable to defend themselves physically.

In this case a 75 year old California resident used a firearm to level the playing field against a much younger, teenage assailant.

The elderly homeowner was home alone when he heard someone trying to break into the home through a window in the middle of the day.

The homeowner armed himself with a handgun before going to investigate the noise.

He found a teenage suspect climbing into his home through a bathroom window. The homeowner confronted the suspect, who attacked him.

During the physical altercation, the homeowner fired his gun, striking the suspect once in the leg.

Police arrived and found the suspect suffering from a single gunshot wound.

The suspect’s injuries are described as not life threatening. The suspect is expected to be charged with burglary following his release from the hospital.

The homeowner was also taken to an area hospital for observation. The homeowner will not face charges in the shooting.
