I’m not going to Monday morning quarterback the actions of anyone involved in this incident, but this video is pretty much the opposite of everything you’d want to do at a traffic stop.

According to KRQE, a family from Tennessee was driving through New Mexico on a vacation when Oriana Ferrell was pulled over for driving 71mph in a 55 mph zone.

It appears that the officer is going to write the woman a speeding ticket, but after he starts to go back to his car, the woman inexplicably takes off.

She is pulled over again a short distance later. The officer tries to forcibly remove Ferrell from the car. Her 14 year old son exits the passenger seat and confronts the officer, who draws his Taser. The son reenters the vehicle.

Ferrell eventually does exit the vehicle, but then tries to make another run for it and get back in her vehicle. The officer grabs her and the 14 year old son gets back out of the car and rushes the officer.

The mother and children manage to get back into the van just as backup arrived.

This is where things start to really break down. Once backup arrived, the officers began attempting to break the windows of the van with batons and one officer opens fire on the back of the vehicle, which contained multiple children, some as young as 6 years old.

After a four minute high speed chase the mother pulls the van over at a hotel and surrenders. Both she and her 14 year old son are arrested.

The officers involved in the incident are also being investigated.
