We are getting numerous media reports that a female suspect first tried to ram the gates at the White House, was chased by Secret Service and Capitol Police, and was killed during a shootout near the US Capitol.

The car was a new model Infiniti and there was a small child in the vehicle as well. Congressman Justin Amash tweeted the following,

Some reports are claiming that the woman seemed to have mental issues.

There are reports that one police officer was injured.

Witnesses reported hearing 10-15 shots, but it is unknown how many of those were fired by police.

The Capitol and White House were in lockdown for a little under an hour.

The House will resume session at 3:30pm.
