It is unknown if this is a “lone gunman” type shooting, targeted attack, drug deal gone wrong, or gang violence, but the mainstream media and the anti-gun Twitter folks are already latching on to it as a lone gunman mass shooting.
In 2013, Maryland passed a set of strict gun control laws. Malls and schools remain popular targets for mass shooters because legal concealed carry is usually banned in these places. This insures that criminals will not face an armed resistance until police arrive minutes later. This is the most recent shooting to take place in such a location.
More details as they emerge.
