A NYC supermarket worker was working late cleaning the store when 2 burglars entered the store. The worker grabbed a shotgun that is kept at the store and fired at the men. One of the men was hit and killed while the other fled. Authorities say the worker will not be charged with any crime.

An Oregon homeowner opened fire on a burglar with a 12GA shotgun. However, rather than getting hit with the normal buckshot, deer slugs, or birdshot the burglar was hit by rubber bullets the homeowner keeps in the gun (followed by a standard shell, which was unfired). The suspect was later caught.
