Taylor Ann Kelly, 18, of South Carolina is currently being held on manslaughter charges in the death of her friend 26-year-old Blake Wardell.
Kelly and Wardell were hanging out with a group of friends at a home when they decided to test out Wardell’s kevlar vest.
Kelly was to fire a shot at Wardell while he was wearing the vest. However, the bullet penetrated the vest and struck Wardell’s heart.
Paramedics were called to the home, but Wardell bled to death from his injuries.
According to Fox Carolina, who originally reported the story,
McCown said Wardell’s death is classified as a homicide. He said there was no evidence of heavy alcohol or drug use.
Lt. Sheila Cole said 18-year-old Taylor Ann Kelly has been charged with involuntary manslaughter in connection with the shooting.
According to Cole, a person convicted of the charge may face up to 5 years in prison.
Do I need to say it? Don’t test vests while wearing them.
