In a recent interview, President Obama told NBC’s Savannah Guthrie that it would be ‘unimaginable’ that Congress would ‘defy’ Americans who support background checks.

The president said 90% of Americans want to make it harder for people to obtain guns and can’t imagine why Congress would defy the will of the American people.

Let’s assume just for a minute that 90% figure is right, even though it is a highly suspect poll number and we still don’t know the exact questions being asked or their phrasing and look at it from another angle.

Well, Mr. President, and I’m pretty sure you know this being a constitutional scholar, our elected representatives don’t take an oath to adhere to mob rule. They take an oath to uphold the Constitution of the the United States. If 90% of the American people wanted to make Christianity the only allowed religion in the country should Congress ‘defy’ the American people to uphold the Constitution? You bet they should.

Why do we think it’s OK to have exceptions to the Second Amendment?
