By now you’re probably seen it, the report about the 60 year old woman who supposedly just celebrated her 60th birthday and was attacked by a group of teens playing the “knockout game” on her way home from the store.

According to the story that’s going around,

Beulah Montgomery, who just turned 60 yesterday, says she was walking home after purchasing lottery tickets when she says a group of teens, 7 of them, approached her. Montgomery initally thought they were going to attempt to steal her purse but says she was instead hit by one of the individuals as a second attempted to hit her. That’s when she grabbed her gun.

“All I could feel was pain and I said to myself I had made it to 60 and I wanted to atl east see 61,” she recalled. “Then I started praying and I asked the Lord to guide my hands” Montgomery says she then reached into her purse and and shot in the direction of the teens and they started to flee. However two of them didn’t make without being hit.

The story first appeared on the 18th of this month on the site, a site which describes itself as “Largest LGBT Online Community”. The site appears to be a small news blog with no author names, no citations and very limited specific information on most of its “stories”. The author of the story is listed a “Guy”. No location, date, or responding law enforcement agencies are listed. The domain name uses a private registration service that hides the identity of the domain name owner.

All other online sources regarding the incident are either linking back to the above article or just copy and paste the original story.

Several other news sites and forums have tried to verify the story, but all have failed.

It looks like this one is probably going to turn out to be a hoax.

However, the knockout game (aka point em out, knock em out) is a very real game that groups of urban teenagers are playing at an alarming rate in many places across the country.

The game involves a group of teens randomly selecting a bystander on the street and attempting to physically beat them until unconscious.

While the little old lady story is likely false, there is at least one case of a suspect playing the knockout game being shot by a would be victim (video below).

At least one person has been killed by such an attack in which a group of teens pulled a 60 year old man from his bike and kicked him to death.
