This is an example of irresponsible gun ownership. While I can understand about forgetting a gun in a bag you carry everyday under some circumstances, I just don’t understand how you don’t double check these things before going through airport security (also you probably shouldn’t be a felon in possession of a firearm when you’ve been charged with that once already).

According to media reports, rapper Waka Flocka Flame has been arrested after he tried to pass through security at Atlanta’s Hartsfield Jackson International Airport with a loaded gun in his carry on bag.

According to CBS News,

Atlanta police say the 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Juaquin James Malphurs, didn’t have a weapons permit. He was arrested and charged with carrying a weapon in a prohibited place.

The weapon was located in a domestic checkpoint lane at the airport, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

He was being held in the Clayton County jail. An initial court appearance was set for Saturday morning. It wasn’t immediately clear if he had a lawyer.

Under GA’s current laws, if Mr. Flocka Flame had a weapons permit the potential penalty would not be nearly as severe. The law allows for carry in non-secure parts of the airport and even has protocols in place for permit holders who accidentally carry to a security checkpoint.

However, as a convicted felon, he is barred from owning and carrying guns by law.
