NYC Taxpayers Are Funding Bloomberg’s Anti Gun Agenda Outside of NYC
This isn’t the first instance we’ve reported on anti-gun New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, Mayors Against Illegal Guns, using New York City taxpayer funded resources to further their agenda. We previously reported on the group’s use of a New York City employee as an anti-gun lobbyist in Nevada as well as the group’s use of taxpayer funded New York City information technology personnel and servers to run the group’s various websites.
Now it seems that the group is up to its old tricks again.
According to FreeBeacon.com, the group will be using another New York City employee to travel to Washington to continue the push for federal gun control.
Brina Milikowsky is an advisor to Michael Bloomberg and draws her salary from the City of New York (aka the tax paying citizens of New York). Now Milikowsky will be heading up the effort for a renewed push on gun control.
According to the Free Beacon article,
She will work in that capacity to push legislators to enact new gun control measures this fall and winter.
“We want to give Congress hell during the August recess when they’re home,” she said.
Obviously, using taxpayer funded resources to push for Bloomberg’s personal politics at the national level didn’t sit right with a lot of people, but the Mayor’s Office defended the move. Also from the Free Beacon,
“The Mayor’s top priority is keeping New Yorkers safe and that includes seeking sane gun laws in other states and D.C. to help reduce the flow of illegal guns to New York,” McCarthy said.
“Brina Milikowsky has played a part in that effort—and the results have been very good,” he added.
So the Mayor’s Office is basically saying that controlling politics at the national level and in other states is helping to keep New Yorkers safe. Right. That’s not insane at all.
