stock_327If you follow this site, you’ve surely seen the story about the Marshall University journalism professor who basically said that NRA members were guilty of treason and should be killed by firing squad. Well, now it seems that Mr. Swindell is apologizing (at leas to the NRA member base if not the leaders).

The following was posted on Mr. Swindell’s Facebook page:

Very important change of tune. When someone shared Mexico bans guns, I realized I was wrong. NRA members (I still disagree with leadership) are DEFENDING freedom. Not threatening it. Would you accept a recent convert’s apology?

Here is a screenshot of the post itself:

Maybe Mr. Swindell actually did some research on the issue after the enormous amount of feedback he must have received from the article on what happens in countries where the government is more well armed than the general populace.

I haven’t seen the article or video that Swindell is referencing, but I’ll take a guess that it points out that the Mexican drug cartels started from elite Mexican military units that stole enormous amounts of government weaponry in order to start their operation and crush their opposition.

I don’t think a simple apology excuses Swindell’s violent comments in the least, but it is good to see someone use some common sense and actually allow their mind to be changed for once.
