Jim_Carrey_2013Before we get to the 140 character “apology,” let’s first remember all of the things that Carrey has said about gun owners in the last several months.

First, Carrey tweeted, back in early February,

“Any1 who would run out and buy an assault rifle after the Newtown massacre has very little left in their body or soul worth protecting.”

Here’s a screenshot of the Tweet in question.

Then, Carrey released a completely classless parody music video on the comedy website Funny or Die, in which he makes fun of and mocks the deceased actor Charlton Heston and all gun owners. The video garnered millions of views.

Finally, just recently, Carrey condemned his own upcoming movie, Kick-Ass 2 for having too much violence in it. Note, this was after he’d already collected his nice fat paycheck for that film.

All of that brings us here to today. Yesterday Carrey tweeted the following:

Way too little, way too late?
