Everytown For Gun Safety Urges Members to Push Gun Control at Their Family Thanksgiving Dinner
The holidays mean so many things to so many people. A chance to catch up with family you don’t see very often. An opportunity to give thanks. A chance to enjoy some great food with those you care about the most. A perfect opportunity to fill your family’s head with anti-gun propaganda. Wait. What the hell was that last one?
It’s true, Michael Bloomberg’s anti-gun group, Everytown for Gun Safety is urging its members and everyone else to spend that quality time around the turkey talking gun control.
A newsletter, distributed to their mailing list, gives anti-gunners several talking points to discuss at Thanksgiving dinner such as:
“MYTH: More guns in more places make us safer”
“MYTH: Having a gun at home makes women safer from domestic violence”
“MYTH: The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun”
The newsletter further goes on to use the now debunked stat that 92% of Americans support federal universal background check laws and accuses Congress of catering to the gun industry instead of the American people.
Strangely, there is no mention of the fact that according to the FBI’s 2013 crime report, crime of all types, both violent and property, fell substantially. During this same time period, gun, ammo and gun accessory sales hit all time highs.
They also didn’t mention our database of over 1,300 documented defensive gun uses (which is only a fraction of actual defensive gun uses).
I think I’ll continue to use this holiday to spend quality time with family and friends myself.
