Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun use stories, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed. These stories are the “other side of the coin” so to speak and serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to take responsibility for your own personal safety.

An Atlanta man has been charged with murdering a couple that he is accused of kidnapping and holding for ransom in August.

According to WSBTV, Andre Gay is accused of kidnapping Jeronta Brown and Briana Brooks, handcuffing them, and holding them for ransom. When no ransom was paid, Gay shot both victims in the head and left them on the side of the road.

Brooks was pregnant at the time. Fortunately, doctors were able to save her child.

Now, the really messed up thing – this isn’t Gay’s first time murdering a pregnant woman.

He was just recently released from jail after 22 years for murdering a pregnant woman and a 16 month old child.

Evil men like this are the reason every law abiding citizen should carry a firearm and train regularly.

As always, I have to point out that a firearm may or may not have helped prevent or stop this crime. However, I prefer to have options whenever possible over simply begging for my life.
