Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun uses, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed. These stories also serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to carry everyday.
Sadly, I feel like we’re having to post too many of these types of stories recently.
According to local media:
The assault took place on Friday, August 22, 2014, at 318 South Ave. in Springfield, MO.
If you can identify the suspects in the provided video, or if you have any information related to the crime, you are asked to contact the Springfield Police Department at (417) 864-1810 or Crime Stoppers at 417-869-TIPS (8477).
You can also leave a tip with Crime Stoppers online or text a tip by texting 417SPD plus your tip to 274637.
As always, I have to point out that a firearm may or may not have helped prevent or stop this assault. However, better situational awareness and planning (ie not walking down an alley late at night) could have almost certainly helped prevent the incident.
Also, I prefer to have options whenever possible.
