Here is another one of our “Why I Carry” stories. These stories, unlike our defensive gun uses, take a look at situations that may have turned out very differently if the victim(s) had been armed. These stories also serve as an important reminder as to why it’s important to carry everyday.

This story is also an example of the fact that complying with a violent criminals demands doesn’t mean you will escape the situation unharmed.

A store clerk in Dekalb County, GA was shot in the head by an armed robber even after complying with all of the suspect’s demands.

According to the Atlanta Journal of Constitution,

There were two clerks inside a bulletproof cubicle, and as one exited the cubicle, “the suspect forced his way in, held the second clerk at gunpoint and demanded money,” DeKalb police Lt. A.W. Ford said.

“The clerk cooperated fully, yet the suspect still shot him in the head one time, gathered the money and left the location,” Ford told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The clerk, whose name has not been released, was taken to Atlanta Medical Center in critical condition.

The suspect got away with $200 and remains at large.
