WE’RE BACK: A Site Status Update and Plans For Moving Forward
Guns Save Lives is not supported by ads and is ran as an independent project. If you support this project please consider supporting us on Patreon. Registration takes just a moment and even $1 is a massive help in continuing our work. Thank you so much.
As you can see from the new defensive gun uses posted today, we are back in business.
As you may have noticed, the last 2-3 months have been kind of sparse on the content. There are a couple of reasons for that.
1.) Other aspects of my life have taken priority. As always happens in life we have periods of transition where we move on to bigger and better things. This is one reason GSL has fallen by the wayside a bit.
2.) To be honest, once the GOP gained solid control of Congress in November, people seemingly stopped caring about gun news as much. I know there are a lot of loyal readers who don’t fall into this category, but it does seem a large portion of gun owners have sort of lost interest in the last few months since (I assume) they feel their rights are safe for the time being.
As far as going forward, I am going to make a conscious effort to keep the defensive gun use database going. Maybe not on a daily basis, but at least multiple times per week.
Many of you probably follow the site through our Facebook page. You might have also noticed that on the Facebook page our range of topics has expanded. Some of the other topics we post about there simply get more engagement from our Facebook fans. If you aren’t getting a lot of engagement on everything you post on a Facebook page then Facebook starts to limit the number of people who see your posts. I think the lack of engagement is partially because we’ve done our job too well. People have seen that defensive gun uses really do happen every single day and this takes a way a little bit of excitement in the world “latest and greatest” social media.
For this reason, most defensive gun uses will be published here on the site and not necessarily on the Facebook page (although particularly interesting ones still could be, as they are now). The Facebook page will continue to cover a wide range of topics and discussions including, but not limited to, gun rights.
If you want to keep up with the GSL website on a daily basis I suggest subscribing to our mailing list. You can do it at the top of the sidebar on this page. It is a once a day email digest of everything we’ve posted in the last 24 hours. You can also simply bookmark us and swing by the site each day to see what’s new. Finally, you can also follow me on Twitter to keep up with GSL stuff. I’m going to automate posting each GSL story to my account @Guns_Save_Lives.
I thank you for being with me during the last several years of growth here at GSL at hope you will continue to stick around as we enter a new phase.
