A Baptist pastor in Utah used his handgun to ensure that his family remained safe from an intruder high on prescription drugs.
The pastor heard some noise at his church, where he also lives with his family, and went to investigate.
The pastor confronted the would be intruder, who was incoherent and eventually had to draw his handgun on the individual.
Once the pastor placed the dot of the laser sight on the suspect, the man complied and was held at gunpoint until police arrived.
This incident will not be included in many self defense statistic because no shots were fired and no one died (which is always a desired outcome during armed self defense).
The pastor holds no ill will towards the man, who was arrested on public intoxication and drug dealing charges.
“He’s safe, he can get some help now, and hopefully he will get the help he needs because of his addiction, and I am glad we didn’t have to use any force,” he said. “He is welcome here anytime. We would love to minister to him.”

Now this is a man who God controls his heart. The fact that the man is welcome back into the congregation to be mentored/ministered too. I applaud him.
Death is always the desired outcome for one’s assailant.
I disagree. Many so-called “gun grabbers” will likely be viewing these blogs in preparation to argue for a weapons ban, comments like yours will be used against 2nd amendment rights in the future.
This Pastor is a great spokesman for firearms rights. He proved that gun owners are not all a bloodthirsty bunch out to use their weapons, but normal citizens who feel a need to defend themselves.
The author and pastor are right, the best use of a firearm are when no shots are fired. The suspect complies, is arrested, and subsequently prosecuted.
Love my home state. Greatest in The Union!
