A Cleveland resident did not hesitate to act when he saw his wife and kids where in danger earlier this week.
According to NewsNet5, Johnny Bridges looked out the window of the home he shared with his fiance and children to see three armed men accosting her and trying to force her back into the home.
Bridges did what he had to do, he grabbed a gun and opened fire on the suspects, striking one. All three suspects fled once they realized they were facing an armed citizen.
The suspect who was shot was taken to an area hospital for treatment and the other suspects were caught by police nearby.
Bridges earned praise from City Councilman Mike Polensek who came to the scene as soon as he heard about the incident.
Polensek said in response to the intruder being shot, “Too bad. You know, that’s what happens when you invade someone’s home. You deserve to get lead poisoning.”
Polensek defended the right of citizens in his district to use firearms to defend their homes and themselves.
According to police, the suspects will face charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and felonious assault.
