Betty Collins is a tough Toledo, OH woman who simply refuses to be a victim.

Around 1am late last week, Collins heard a commotion on her porch. She went to investigate and found someone trespassing on her porch, trying to steal a bicycle that was chained up.

Collins ordered the man off the porch, but he was still attempting to steal the bike.

Even after Collins’ boyfriend came outside the suspect still continued to try and steal the bike.

That’s when Collins thought it was time to get serious. Obviously this intruder wasn’t afraid of anything, and that alone could make him dangerous.

Collins pulled her .357 magnum revolver, pointed it at the man and told him to get on his knees until police arrived.

The man hesitated, and, according to 13ABC, that’s when Collins said her now infamous line, “I’m not joking, do you see how big this gun is? It’s fully loaded. He dropped down to his knees”.

This is another great example of a defensive gun use in which no shots were fired, no one was injured and the bad guy ended up behind bars. Because of the fact that no shots were fired, this incident will likely not be included in most of the studies on defensive gun uses, which usually only look at cases in which someone was shot or killed. However, defensive gun uses in which no shots are fired are overwhelmingly the most common type of defensive gun use.
