A homeowner in Arizona was returning home from work when he noticed a light on inside of his home.
Thinking this was odd, the homeowner grabbed a handgun he keeps in his car (he keeps it in his car because he works as an unarmed security guard) and entered his home.
Once inside the home, the homeowner encountered 22-year-old Aaron Fisher, who had broken into the home.
The homeowner opened fire on the suspect, firing one shot and hitting him.
The homeowner then fled to a neighbor’s home to call 911 for help.
According to Fox Phoenix,
Homeowner: “I just got home from work. There’s a burglar inside. Send an ambulance. I shot him.”
Breathless and panicked, a homeowner told a 911 operator he just walked in on a burglar inside of his house and shot him. The security guard had just returned home from work. He says he saw lights on inside of his house and thought that was strange, so he grabbed a personal gun he keeps in his truck — then walked inside.
Homeowner: “There was a side door open. I just unlocked my house. There was a man there.. he said he was on drugs and he was walking at me.. anyway I need paramedics. I need the police department. I got my handgun out of my truck and.. I’m sorry.. I shot him.”
When police arrived, they found the suspect in the home, deceased. The suspect had a prior history of burglary and selling stolen goods.
The homeowner will not face any charges in the incident.
