A 79 year old Texas man was facing an armed intruder trying to break into his home early Monday morning.

Based on the behavior of the would be intruder, the homeowner determined he did not want to shoot him, despite having multiple hunting rifles in arm’s reach.

The elderly homeowner, a member of the Texas Cowboy Hall of Fame, landed two hard blows to the 38 year old intruder, which allowed the homeowner to disarm the man.

Friends and neighbors say the old cowboy is not someone to be crossed, with one family friend saying she is surprised the intruder wasn’t killed.

The would be burglar is being charged with attempted burglary with burglary with intent to commit assault. Police say it is possible the intruder was high on bath salts at the time.

We can’t say we recommend this methodology of self defense, but one thing we can recommend is not messing with old cowboys.

Someone buy this man a beer.
