The homeowner opened fire on the pair of would be intruders ands struck one of them in the arm. Both suspects managed to get away.
However, a short time later one of the suspects appeared at an area hospital seeking treatment for his wounded arm. It didn’t take much detective work to put two and two together and apprehend one of the two suspects.
The suspect gave up his juvenile accomplice under questioning. Both suspects are facing burglary charges.
Now, let’s get into this comment made by the Des Moines police,
Des Moines Police say they don’t advise people to fight back against home intruders unless there is no other option.
When exactly do you know when you have no other options? If you’re out of options isn’t it too late to fight back? Isn’t the point of owning a gun to give yourself more options during a violent crime than just begging for your life?
Interestingly, this is only the third defensive gun use we’ve documented in the state of Iowa. It is the 1,070th defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.
