Stock - gun in handA currently unidentified man was walking back to his car after paying for gas at a BP gas station in Florida when he was approached by a man who tried to rob him in broad daylight.

What the would be thief didn’t know, is that this victim was armed. The victim drew his concealed handgun and fired a single shot at the suspect, according to witnesses. The suspect was struck once in the buttocks.

The suspect tried to flee the scene after being shot, but he was quickly apprehended. He is being treated for injuries described as “non life threatening” at a local hospital.

It is unclear if the victim had a concealed carry permit, but police did not arrest him and are ruling this self defense.

One of the officers responding said during a TV interview that in Florida you absolutely have the right to defend yourself and stand your ground.

There is no information on the identity of the victim or suspect at this time, and it is unclear what the suspect will be charged with.
