A homeowner in Atlanta, GA was burglarized several days ago. Following that incident, the homeowner became more vigilant. When the thief returned for a second time on Monday morning, the homeowner was ready.

The suspected burglar was shot once in the head by the homeowner in the backyard of the home.

According to WSBTV,

Investigators say the homeowner shot the man once, after seeing him on his property.

“There was some type of engagement between the two. A shot was fired … the intruder was actually shot by the homeowner and killed on scene,” Capt. Paul Guerucci said.

Police said they have no witnesses, other than the homeowner.

Investigators told Choi that the same house was burglarized over the weekend while the homeowners were there. They think the house was targeted by the intruder, because the house sits back from the road, down a long driveway.

This is the 68th defensive gun use we’ve documented in the state Georgia and the 1,221st defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.
