An active duty Soldier in Hinesville, GA is in the hospital today in unknown condition following a firefight with a would be home invader.

Police responded to reports of gunshots in a condo complex in Hinesville, GA, near Ft. Stewart Army Base. They found out that an active duty soldier had been shot when he confronted an armed individual who entered his home. The soldier’s family was upstairs when he armed himself and went downstairs to confront the intruder.

A gunfight ensued. The suspect was able to escape, despite being shot multiple times. The soldier was transported to an area hospital where he is currently in unknown condition. The suspect showed up at an area hospital a short time later saying he had been shot while walking down the street. Police determined the man was the suspect involved in the attempted home invasion.

According to TheCoastalSource.com,

Chief of Detectives Maj. Thomas Cribbs confirmed that the man at Liberty Regional Medical Center was the intruder in the earlier shooting and was arrested and is charged with aggravated assault, burglary and possession of marijuana. He continues to be treated for multiple gunshot wounds.
