police_line_stockA 24 year old man, Victor Navarro, who police say had a serious drug problem is dead after attempting to rob a Florida pharmacy.

According to reports, Navarro entered the pharmacy in Hialeah, FL, brandished what appeared to be a firearm (which turned out to be a BB gun), and demanded the anti-anxiety drug Xanex.

The pharmacy manager, 70 year old Angel Navarro (no relation to the suspect), drew a concealed handgun and opened fire on the suspect, who was shot.

Victor Navarro died of his injuries before authorities arrived on scene.

The incident occurred in the middle of the day, in broad daylight, when the pharmacy was filled with customers. Police were able to get statements from numerous witnesses at the scene.

Police say Angel Navarro is cooperating with their investigation and the incident appears to be a clear cut case of self defense.

This is the 105th defensive gun use we’ve documented in the state of Florida. This is the 1,139th defensive gun use we’ve documented overall.
