Around 1:15am, a homeowner in Amarillo, TX called police to report that someone armed with a baseball bat was trying to break into his home.

While waiting on police, the suspect was able to make her way into the home.

The homeowner, who was armed, opened fire on the suspect, striking her at least once.

Based on media reports, it sounds like the homeowner was on the phone with emergency services during the incident and told the operator that he was armed and that he has shot the suspect.

When emergency personnel arrived they transported the female intruder to an area hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries.

The homeowner and another witness were taken to the police station for questioning about the incident.

Both were released and no charges have been filed.
