According to KZTV, a homeowner, identified as Dan Caballero may have shot a suspected intruder after he tried to break into Caballero’s Corpus Christi home.

The suspect fled the scene after being shot and was discovered by police after they followed a blood trail to find the suspect.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital for treatment, and died of his wounds shortly thereafter.

Police have not officially said if it was Caballero who fired the shot at the intruder or if the shot was fired inside or outside of the home.

Texas does have versions of stand your ground and castle doctrine laws.

No charges have been filed in the case.

This is the 138th defensive gun use we’ve documented from the state of Texas. Texas continues to lead all states in the number of documented defensive gun uses.
