Police say a man was on a crime spree in San Anotonio, Texas before he was shot by a private security guard at a popular Mexican restaurant.

The suspect first robbed and shot a bar owner earlier in the night (the bar owner is currently in the hospital and undergoing surgery).

Then the suspect pulled a gun on a nearby hotel clerk. It is unclear if he got away with any cash in that robbery, but no one was harmed.

The suspect then tried to rob a popular Mexican restaurant, but was confronted by a security guard. The suspect tried to shoot the guard, but fortunately his weapon jammed and the guard was able to draw his own weapon and fire two shots, hitting the suspect in the head and abdomen.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital and is expected to survive. Police say he will be charged with 3 cases of aggravated robbery at minimum.

Texas is leading our count for the state with the most number of defensive gun uses that we’ve been able to document. This is the 12th defensive gun use in the state of Texas in 30 days.
