In 1995 Michael Allen had over $20,000 of musical instruments and equipment stolen from a van outside of his home. Determined not to be a victim again, Allen borrowed a friend’s handgun the next day and went to the range to learn to use it. The next night, when the thieves came back, Allen was ready and held a teenager at gunpoint until police arrived. The teen led authorities to where the rest of Allen’s equipment was, and it was almost all recovered.

Again, last Tuesday morning, Allen heard someone breaking into a trailer containing his musical equipment. Allen grabbed his revolver and confronted the would be thieves who were loading his equipment into an SUV. The men fled after being confronted.

Allen is less hopeful about his stolen equipment being found this time, but at least he was able to stop the would be thieves before they stole too many items.
