According to the Mail Tribune, a man was behaving erratically and was trying to force his way into multiple homes in a quiet neighborhood. The man chose the wrong home when he tried to force his way into Norm Thomas’s home. Thomas is a 66 year old veteran, retired from the Air Force. Thomas fired a single shot from a .357 magnum, hitting and killing the intruder.

Police are still investigating the behavior of the intruder to see if drugs, alcohol or mental illness might have played a role in the way he was acting.

Neighbors describe Thomas as honorable, a family man, law abiding and several also said they are sure Thomas wouldn’t have shot anyone unless he felt like he had to.
