A homeowner in Kansas went to investigate noises in his garage around 3:30am.

When he went into the garage he found a male intruder there and attempted to hold the man at gunpoint while his wife called the police.

At some point during the confrontation the intruder attacked the homeowner, forcing the homeowner to shoot him.

The suspect was taken to an area hospital where he is described as being in stable condition.
